The Nokia N97 is priced (unsubsidized) at the same range as the Apple iPhone 3Gs. While it does feature somewhat better specs, the clear winner is still the iPhone 3Gs. With reviewers giving the N97 a thumbs down, Nokia might well turn back to its original strategy for now. Beat the iPhone, with its pricing. The Nokia 5800 actually did very well to counter the iPhone 3G and the price point was attractive. And the recently leaked 5900 might well be the next touchscreen from Nokia at next months ‘Nokia World’.
The 5900 is rumored to have a 3.5″ screen and a 5MP camera compared to the 3.2″ LCD and the 3.2Mp camera in the 5800. While testing the onscreen keyboard on the 5800 I did feel that, the screen size is too small in width to accommodate a landscape keyboard. It would be interesting to see if the 5900 feels better. If Nokia can out this at a price point close to the Nokia 5800, it can well give the iPhone 3Gs a run for its money in the global market.
